My job of 8 years ended on October 27th and I didn't have a new job lined up. In fact I was facing the prospect of making a total career shift. I've worked as a legal secretary for 16 years, but for the past 2 years I've been in culinary school. I always figured I'd make the shift to a culinary career gradually. I'd build up a culinary business while I continued to work in law and when I had enough business to support me then I'd leave the law firm. God had another plan. In mid-August the firm notified the staff that they were relocating the office from Costa Mesa to San Diego. There was no way I could make that commute even if I wanted to. I'm still in school and I couldn't get from SD to my classes in CM by 5:30. Basically, I felt like the rug had been pulled out from underneath me.

I find it very ironic that that same morning I had prayed and asked God to bless me. I needed something good, something positive to happen in my life. Initially I thought God was having a good laugh at my expense. Once I had a chance to pray and to think about my circumstances I figured out that God HAD blessed me. I'd been wanting to leave my firm for a while, but up until that point, the Lord wouldn't release me. Now, He'd released me, but not the way I was expecting. I immediately began looking for another legal job, but couldn't find on in my field. Everything seemed to be pointing toward me making a career change. God had even provided the monies. I had enough money to last a couple of months so that if I took a culinary job, the pay wouldn't matter. God really is amazing. I often get frustrated because I don't understand what He's doing, but He is always faithful, He is always right on time and He always provides for my needs. Now I just need to step out on faith and get my first culinary job. I've never liked change this has been more change then I can comfortably handle. One thing I do know is that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I simply need to be obedient to the Lord's leading. I CAN DO THIS!
